What does the $199 new patient check-up and clean include?

A comprehensive oral examination, removal of calculus (scale and clean) at the first appointment, 2 bitewing X-rays if required, topical fluoride, an oral cancer screening and treatment planning. Anything else your dentist recommends is quoted separately, and nothing further is done without your agreement.

Is the new patient offer no-gap with my health fund?

It depends on your fund, your level of extras cover and how much of your annual limit is left. As a preferred provider for Medibank, HCF, Bupa and Westfund, members of those funds often pay little or nothing for a check-up and clean, and we claim every other fund through HICAPS. We can check your likely rebate before the appointment.

Yes, two bitewing X-rays are included if your dentist decides you need them. Bitewings show decay between the teeth and bone levels that cannot be seen in the mouth. If you have recent X-rays from another practice, let us know and we can request them.

Who is eligible for the new patient offer?

Adults and children who have not been to Kallangur Dental Surgery before and are booking a routine check-up and clean. It is available with selected dentists and must be mentioned when you book. Emergency appointments are booked separately.

Who the new patient offer is for

The offer is for adults and children who are new to Kallangur Dental Surgery and are booking a routine check-up and clean. Patients come to us from Kallangur, North Lakes, Mango Hill, Murrumba Downs, Petrie, Griffin, Dakabin, Narangba, Lawnton, Strathpine and across the Moreton Bay region. If you are in pain or have a broken tooth, please call us instead, as an emergency appointment is booked differently.

Your first visit

Our front office team will welcome you and ask you to complete a short medical history form. Please list any medications and allergies, so your dentist can plan treatment around them and avoid products that may not suit you. Your dentist will then examine your teeth, gums and soft tissues, take X-rays if they are needed, and clean away the build-up that brushing at home cannot reach.

If you feel anxious about the dentist, tell us when you book. Many of our patients have put off a visit for years, and a delay can turn a small problem into a larger and more costly one. Health funds and the new patient offer

We are a preferred provider for Medibank, HCF, Bupa and Westfund, and we accept all other funds through HICAPS, so your rebate can be claimed on the spot. Depending on your fund, cover level and annual limits, your out-of-pocket cost for a check-up and clean may be lower than $199, or there may be no gap at all. Children who are eligible for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) may have their check-up bulk billed. Please mention this when you book so we can confirm eligibility.

Questions to ask before booking any no-gap dental offer

A "no-gap" or set-price offer is only useful if you know what it covers. Whichever clinic you choose, these are the questions worth asking first:

Exactly what is included? Ask for the list of services, ideally by item number. Some offers leave out X-rays, fluoride or a longer periodontal clean.
Does my fund and cover level qualify? Being with a listed fund is not always enough. Your policy tier, waiting periods and remaining annual limits all affect the final cost.
Could annual limits create a gap? Most funds limit how often a check-up can be claimed, often once every six months. If your limit is used up, a no-gap visit can become a paid one.
What if the dentist finds something? Fillings, extractions, root canal treatment and crowns sit outside a check-up offer. You should receive a written treatment plan with costs before any extra work begins.
Are there conditions or fees? Ask about the days the offer applies, which dentists it applies to, and cancellation fees.

At Kallangur Dental Surgery we answer all five in writing if you ask, and we do not start further treatment until you have agreed to it.
