The Bupa Members First network gives members with eligible extras cover access to a broad range of dental treatment at participating practices, with fees set in line with Bupa's agreed schedule. Kallangur Dental Surgery is listed as a Bupa dental provider, so you and your family can receive complete oral care with us, from routine check-ups and cleans through to emergency dental care.

What our Bupa preferred dental provider arrangement offers

As your Bupa preferred dental provider, Kallangur Dental Surgery offers eligible members:

No-gap dental check-ups. Eligible Bupa Members First Platinum members may have their check-up with no out-of-pocket cost. Depending on your policy, professional cleaning, X-rays, mouthguards and fluoride treatment may also be covered with no gap. If your dentist finds a problem, you will be given a treatment plan with costs before anything further is done.
More of your money back. Depending on the treatment and your level of cover, between 60% and 100% of the cost of other treatment may be claimed back.
No-gap check-ups for children up to 17 years. Eligible children on your policy may not have to pay out of pocket for their dental check-up.
Easy claims. We claim from Bupa for you at reception through HICAPS, and there are no hidden costs on your bill.

To be eligible for these benefits, you need Bupa hospital cover combined with extras cover that includes general dental. Benefits, limits and eligibility are set by Bupa and can change, so please confirm your own cover with Bupa before treatment.

How often can you claim for dental services with Bupa?

Each dental service can only be claimed a set number of times in a set period. For example, a general check-up with your Bupa preferred dentist can usually be claimed once every six months. Bupa does allow exceptions, such as additional check-ups after oral surgery.

Most policies also have waiting periods for new or upgraded cover, and annual limits on how much you can claim for dental. If you are close to your limit, tell us, and we can plan treatment around it. Is Kallangur Dental Surgery a Bupa Members First provider?

Yes. Kallangur Dental Surgery is part of the Bupa Members First network and is a Bupa preferred dentist. Eligible members with hospital and extras cover that includes general dental can use their Members First benefits with us.

What does Bupa Members First cover?

It depends on your policy. For eligible members, check-ups may be no gap, and cleans, X-rays, mouthguards and fluoride may also be covered. For other treatment, between 60% and 100% may be claimed back depending on the item and your level of cover. Confirm your own benefits with Bupa.

Do Bupa members pay a gap for a check-up?

Eligible Bupa Members First members may pay nothing for a check-up with us, as long as they have annual limits remaining and are outside any waiting period. Children up to 17 on an eligible policy may also have no-gap check-ups. We will tell you before your appointment if a gap applies.

Does Bupa cover orthodontics or Invisalign?

Orthodontic treatment, including clear aligners, is usually covered only on higher levels of extras cover, often with a longer waiting period and a lifetime limit. Ask us for an item-numbered quote after your Invisalign consultation, and Bupa can tell you what they will pay.

How much is a dental check-up in Australia?

Fees vary from practice to practice and with what the visit involves, such as whether X-rays or a clean are needed. Without insurance, a basic check-up in Australia typically costs from $209 to $305. Extras cover that includes general dental can reduce or remove the out-of-pocket cost, depending on your policy.

Is dental covered by Medicare?

Adult dental care is generally not covered by Medicare. The main exception is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible children, which we bulk bill. For most adults, private extras cover is the way to reduce dental costs.
